Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

What an absolutely wonderful vacation Don and I had!

We were able to play in the Gulf of Mexico just about every day during our annual trip to Destin, Florida.  My favorite experience was floating in the Gulf around mid-morning on our last full day.  The water was calm and peaceful.  I was calm and peaceful.  Then it happened.  A school of fish decided to play around me.  They swam alongside me, jumping out of the water near my head, my hands and my feet.  It was incredible.  The hymn “When Peace Like a River” came to mind as well as the passage Be still and know that I am God Psalm 46:10.  I was once again reminded of the overwhelming sense of God’s presence and peace.  That memory has and will continue to remind me that when the storms of life rage, God’s peace is merely a breath away in prayer.  As you close your eyes, I pray that this same sense of peace, of well-being, of God’s calming presence be with you as well.

With Christ’s love,

Pastor Laura

When Peace Like a River — ELW #785

When peace like a river attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll,
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
It is well with my soul, it is well, it is well with my soul.
